This page offers sets of photographs taken in and around Athens. Each set is named for the person who shared the photographs and who provided brief descriptions associated with the images.

The sets of photographs shown here do not need to have a particular theme. The goal is to assemble images and slide shows, color and monochrome, taken at different times during Athens' history. Landmarks, buildings, landscapes, events, and miscellaneous photographs are encouraged. Photographs of townspeople and merchants, store interiors, and everyday life will help others get a better sense of what it was like to live in Athens at a particular time. Photographs of families and friends may be shared as well, but they will be placed in those divisions of the web site. See Families and Friends in Our Years.

Karen Stuebing. Karen is a resident of Athens and retired Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). She traveled throughout Mercer County working in the home health field. A hobbyist photographer, she found many forgotten and out of the way places to capture with her camera. She 
uses her personal web site to show all aspects of this wonderful community, from landscapes to people. Besides photography, her hobbies are hiking and graphic design.
Karen graciously shared her talent and substantial photographic work with Athens We Knew. In addition to the Gallery of her photographs in and around Athens that appears above, she contributed a series of photographs shot over several years during visits to Shawnee Lake. She has revisited many destinations in the extended community, such as Jimmie's Restaurant, and captured familiar scenes that remind us of places we enjoyed during Our Years.
