Wilson Hall for Women
Named for Damaris O. Wilson
Completed in 1962, this residence hall for women was built to accommodate an additional 210 women in double and triple student rooms, and also contained three separate kitchens, laundry facilities, private and public lounge areas, a recreation room, two apartments for the resident supervisors, and a sun deck on the roof. A main lounge and a porch, suspended from the east side of the building, offer a view of the Route 20 valley north of Athens. Originally known as Women’s Upperclass Hall, it was renamed in 1977 in honor of Miss Damaris Otwell Wilson, a former Dean of Women.
